Dear 100 Hour Board,
In one area on my mission, I found some at-a-glance cards in the apartment, giving an overview of the Book of Mormon, of the Doctrine and Covenants, and of the chronology of Joseph Smith's life. On the latter, it mentioned something about the "Adamic Priesthood." What is that?
--Also would like to know about the Council of Fifty

A: Dear Also-

The term "Adamic Priesthood" seems to have been in reference to Adam as a holder of the priesthood we currently call the Melchizedek Priesthood, but with specific rights and responsibilities as the patriarch of mankind.

The Council of Fifty is a group that was organized by Joseph Smith in Nauvoo to provide political leadership and counsel for the church. Members of this council often ran for political office within Utah territory, but was never an especially powerful group. It was dissolved before Utah became a state.
